中国足协官方宣布，为备战2027年U17亚洲杯，经专家组评议，决定聘任前国脚张耀坤担任中国U16国家男子足球队主教练。这也是张耀坤以国字号青少年球队主教练身份的首次公开亮相。
1981年出生的张耀坤拥有亚足联职业级教练证书，球员时期曾先后效力大连实德、四川冠城、广州富力和武汉卓尔等球队，并随大连队多次夺得中国顶级联赛冠军。国家队层面，他共代表中国男足出场39次，参加过世青赛、亚洲杯和世界杯预选赛，随队获得2004年亚洲杯亚军及2005年东亚杯冠军。
退役后，张耀坤长期深耕青训一线，曾担任大连市足协青训总监，持续参与青年球员培养工作，并率领辽宁队夺得第十五届全运会U18男足冠军。此次从地方青训岗位走上U16国少队主帅位置，也体现出中国足协对其青训执教经历和带队成绩的认可。
接下来，张耀坤将带领中国U16男足围绕2027年U17亚洲杯展开备战，球队的集训、选拔及比赛安排也将随之推进。
